I can't encourage existing professionals or beginner teachers enough to get involved with our society.  USISTD has been an inspiration for me and my studio, and continue to look forward to the journey that dance will take our fellow members, students, and nation as the years go forward!

Dear Lori,

I wanted to take a moment to give yourself, the committee members and board some feedback on the examination process and what USISTD has meant to myself and my studio.  I thought it important to relay any positive experiences that I have encountered, so resources within the Society can be encouraged to be used in that direction.

First of all, as a teacher, choreographer and studio owner, I wanted to be associated with an organization that I could be proud to advertise to my students, teachers, and fellow studio owners.  Everyone I have met, whether it is examiners, fellow members or students taking medal tests have all been involved with our organization because of a desire to achieve a standard of excellence that is premier in the dance community.  I am proud to say that I can see that standard within each individual I have met.

Second the testing process surprised me.  Let me regress and say that I did not take the examinations to learn new patterns to teach.  Although, new teachers would benefit from the program.  I took the tests be be associated professionally with the society but found the journey to be better than the sum of the tests.  By studying all the specifics of each movement and theory thereof, can help create a dynamic learning experience for all levels of dance teachers.  Wherever you are in your level of knowledge, we can always learn new ideas or concepts of an existing theory, and the testing process was a excellent venue to explore those ideas.

Finally, I can't encourage existing professionals or beginner teachers enough to get involved with our society.  USISTD has been an inspiration for me and my studio, and continue to look forward to the journey that dance will take our fellow members, students, and nation as the years go forward!

And remember.....if you can't laugh at yourself, everyone else will! KEEP DANCING!
